Beacon of Light: Chloe Dreadz

blog pic.jpg

Hi all

Last year I met some amazing individuals who are Beacons of Light, they bring light where it is dark. Their compassion to serve humanity inspired me.

Chloe Dreadz was such an individual. At 22 she began the journey of curiously exploring ‘self’. When she discovered yoga, it was an immediate love affair. In 2017 she launched a 20 hour Yoga for Teens teacher training. This course is for teachers, parents, yogis, or anyone interested in working with young people, as a platform to share everything she has learnt along the way to continue to spread the gift that is yoga to the next generation.

I attended the teacher training and I loved it. Having two children and a love for yoga myself, I wanted to  learn how to bond the two together in my teaching children and also bring into my parenting. Her genuine care and compassion for humanity was very clear and empowered me even more in my motto “I aspire to inspire”.

Here is her interview, enjoy…

Beacon of Light, Fitra, Andrea and Najla

Hi all

I have met some amazing individuals who are Beacons of Light, they bring light where it is dark. Their compassion to serve humanity inspired me.

I met some young ladies who created a project on self-Love as part of their year 10 assessment at school. They know how important Love is and it all starts with you loving yourself. I do believe Love is the answer and it always start with loving ourselves. I interviewed Fitra Rahima, Andrea Agnetta Gunadi and Najla Nurhaiqa and here are the details on what their projects are all about.

Fitra explained  “Love Myself, Love Yourself is a project where its goal is to make a dance video that promotes the issue of the lack of self-love. The dance should also encourage its audience to accept who they are and be grateful with they are given with. This project is heavily inspired by my love for dancing as well as my concern to people who lack self-love.  It is very sad to see that a number of people have lost their lives due to the lack of appreciation towards themselves. Thus, I believe that fact needs to be changed.”

“I am Andrea Agnetta Gunadi (16), who is currently studying at Global Jaya School. A Campaign about Self-Love! is a project I have created, in the hope of opening people’s minds about accepting themselves. The campaign teaches the audience about the general knowledge of what it means to have self-love, low self-esteem, and how to accept yourself. The campaign includes informational posters, an interactive board – which lets the audience write down some things they like about themselves and lastly, a showcase of photographs that involve teenagers who accept one another regardless of their differences. I truly hope that this project is able to reach out to everyone who struggles to find self-love within themselves, as an eye-opener for the benefit of themselves and the social community.”

Najla explained: Self-love starts with taking care of yourself.  She wrote a book with instructions for skin care. Her point being, if you look good on the outside, then you feel good on the inside.

Here is the interview, enjoy…

Beacon of Light, Neelam Patel

Hi all

Last year I met some amazing individuals who are Beacons of Light, they bring light where it is dark. Their compassion to serve humanity inspired me.

One such individual was Neelam Patel. Neelam is part of  The Red Box Project and this organisation helps in tackling period poverty. When she told me about the project, I thought young girls knew about how to use sanitary towels and had access to them, however Neelam informed that this is not the case. Here’s a video that shows how it has helped girls.

This project has filled over 2,000 boxes which is now freely accessible to young people in educational settings across the UK. Allowing access to adequate menstrual protection.

I thought she could you inspire you. Here is what she had to say…

What inspired you to do what you’re doing?

“I saw an article in the Harrow Times about the Red Box project and how it was started by the Harrow coordinator” (Harrow Middlesex, UK). ‘I thought what a great idea and contacted head officers ask how to get involved”.

What has been the psychology behind what you do?

“I want to give something to the community and what better than to help girls not to miss school because of their periods.  Having two daughters of my own made me think – how they would feel if they couldn’t afford sanitary products?”

What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?

“Working full time is challenging and finding time to drop off donated products to the schools and collecting donations from our donation points.  I work from home so tried to do what I could in my lunch break or during quiet periods during the day.  Also my house was full of products so it took over our lives.  I managed to find a volunteer who was willing to take on some of the supplies for her to keep in her garage.”

What’s your vision?

My vision is fulfilled as the aim of the project was to get red boxes filled with sanitary items to all schools and colleges in Harrow. We achieved this by supplying all the institutions that needed a box.  The government has now pledged to provide funding to all primary and secondary schools for sanitary products from April 2020. I now need to find another charity to get involved in.

Who is your Beacon of Light?

This year I will be blogging about Beacons of Light, people who are inspiring.

A Beacons of light in my life has been Mother Theresa, she was born in Albania. Her mother’s words to help the poor stuck with her and hence she became Mother Theresa. A mother to all, she not only helped the poor but her humility was an inspiration to all.  The feeling of love eminated from her and apparently when she walked into a room she had a peaceful presence.

There was an ocasion when she was at a radio station in the US to give an interview about the opening of one of her centres. The presenter asked how could he help her in promoting her work and raise funds.  She said she wasn’t there to promote her work, but she was there to just to talk about the centre. In the end, she saw that the presenter just wanted to do something to help. She asked him to go out the next morning and find someone who was homeless and tell them that they are not alone.  You see, she saw that in poor countries there was poverty of food and shelter but in the western world, people were starved of Love. At the end of the day, that’s all we all want.

Martin Luther King, Jr was another Beacon of Light, his transformative work to help African Americans to become free with his famous words ‘I have a Dream’. With those words he inspired African Americans to their version of freedom.

Nelson Mandela was another Beacon of Light. He started of as a terrorist but the years he spent in prison forced him into silence and he realised he had to end aparthied.

Hellen Keller lost both her sight and hearing at just 19 months old. She Became the Most Famous Disabled Person in the World. Although deaf and blind, Helen Keller graduated from college. She wrote about her life and became an activist for the disabled.

I listen to Jay Shetty, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle who are inspirational motivators who still inspire me and the world.

Having attended various retreats, courses and workshops around the world I certainly received a re-education. My teachers taught me new tools and I use them when I need to. It brought me to becoming a Wellness Ambassador. I am grateful and truly blessed.

It’s important to surround yourself with people that inspire you, that can bring you up and teach you how to pick yourself up when you feel down. If I wasn’t inspired, I don’t think I would like to inspire.
