How Do You Create A More Positive Mindset?
It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Sometimes, the most powerful transformations come from the smallest shifts.
Here’s something I encourage everyone I work with to try—especially those who wake up feeling overwhelmed, heavy, or anxious.
First thing in the morning, before you check your phone, before the world rushes in… pause and ask yourself:
👉 What is one thing I’m looking forward to today?
That’s it. Just one thing.
It might be:
- A walk in nature.
- Your first sip of morning tea.
- A meaningful conversation with someone you care about.
- Even something as simple as finishing a task you’ve been avoiding.
If you really dig deep, even on the busiest or messiest days, there is always something—no matter how small—to look forward to.
This one question can begin to train your brain to scan for the good, rather than the stress.
Why Does This Work?
Because our brains are naturally wired to protect us. That means they’re often scanning for danger, for the things that could go wrong. This is what causes those racing thoughts first thing in the morning—the to-do list, the regrets, the worries.
But when we intentionally guide our mind toward something positive, we’re not just calming the chaos—we’re reshaping how we experience our entire day.
It All Starts With the Breath
Here’s the key though: it’s not just the question that shifts your mindset—it’s the state you’re in when you ask it.
And that’s where the breath comes in.
Your breath is one of the most powerful, untapped tools you carry with you. It affects your mood, your energy, your focus—everything.
When you learn to breathe in a way that supports your body, your nervous system begins to settle. You start your day not from a place of pressure, but from a place of presence.
Breathing well helps you:
- Reduce anxiety
- Feel more emotionally grounded
- Think more clearly
- Respond rather than react
- Build resilience over time
