If You Are Wondering How Yoga to Fill Your Cup Can Help…
Have you ever reached the end of the day and wondered where all your energy went? You’ve answered the messages, helped everyone else, finished what needed doing and kept going — yet somehow, you ended up at the bottom of the list. If that sounds familiar, here’s something you can try today: give yourself just 10 minutes to refill before you reach empty.
It’s kind of like your phone. When the battery flashes 10%, you don’t get annoyed with it for needing power. You don’t expect it to keep running every app indefinitely. You find the charger.
Yet how often do we notice our own warning signs — tiredness, irritability, a busy mind, that feeling of being stretched too thin — and think, I’ll rest when everything else is done?
I know I’ve done it.
The Lesson My Own Empty Cup Taught Me
For years, I was busy caring for my family, working and supporting other people. I thought being there for everyone meant continuing to give.
Eventually I realised something surprisingly simple: I didn’t need to become better at running on empty. I needed to stop letting myself get so empty in the first place.
That was a real shift for me. Yoga helped me understand that looking after ourselves doesn’t always require an hour, a retreat or a complete lifestyle change. Sometimes it begins with one breath, one stretch and a few minutes where nobody needs anything from you.
Imagine what might change if you stopped seeing those few minutes as something you have to earn and started seeing them as part of how you look after your energy.
Notice Your 10% Before It Becomes 1%
Your body often whispers before it shouts. Perhaps your shoulders creep towards your ears. Your breathing becomes shallow. You read the same sentence three times. You become impatient over something tiny or realise you haven’t properly stopped all day.
Instead of automatically pushing through, try asking yourself:
“What would help refill me right now?”
It might be movement. A few slow breaths. Fresh air. Silence. Rest. That tiny question can interrupt the habit of running on empty.
Breathe. Move. Receive.
This is where yoga to fill your cup becomes more than exercise. I created this gentle 10-minute class around three simple ideas:
Breathe to create space. Slow, conscious breathing gives you a moment to turn your attention away from everything demanding it and back towards yourself.
Move to reconnect. Gentle yoga postures help you notice how you actually feel rather than simply powering through your day on autopilot.
Receive instead of doing. Giving yourself permission to simply be for a few moments without achieving, fixing or looking after anything.
That is your refill.
What Could Change If You Filled Your Cup Along the Way?
The goal isn’t to create a life where you never give to anyone else. Caring, contributing and supporting people can be wonderful parts of who we are.
But imagine moving through your day feeling nourished 🌸 rather than depleted 😮💨, present 💗 rather than scattered 😵💫, and able to give without continually leaving yourself behind.
You don’t have to wait for an empty cup. Start while there is still something left in it.
Your 10-minute Yoga to Fill Your Cup practice combines breathing, gentle movement and meditation to help you pause, recharge and reconnect with yourself.
Your class is waiting. Come and fill your cup.
And if someone came to mind while you were reading this, share this with them. They might need the reminder to refill their cup too.
