Homemade Therapy: Be Kind to Yourself

Homemade therapy is a series of what you can do at home to create wellness and wellbeing.

Affirmations in New Thought and New Age terminology refer primarily to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment—fostering a belief that “a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything.”

So how do you affirm, or rather, how do you talk to yourself?  What are you continually thinking about? What is the language you continually use?

How we talk to ourselves has a direct affect on how we are with others and how we create our future. In fact, when we are tough on others, we are just as tough on ourselves.  We constantly beat ourselves up when we don’t have the answers.  If you do this, it’s no surprise you will be doing it to others.  Sometimes we might not even know that we are doing this because it has become a habit.

So how do we change this?  We have to become MINDFUL.  This means we should stop letting our mind control us and instead we should be controlling our mind.

The blog on MEDITATION…. will show you how and then you can start by deliberately focusing on what you would like to think. It will take practice.  Once you practice, it will become better and each moment can be blissful or not.  Your choice. Remember “You have to fake it to make it.”  You mind believes everything you tell it.  If you tell it “Life Sucks” your mind will believe that.  If you tell it “Life is Great”, your mind will believe that too. It only takes a refocus to an Attitude of Gratitude to change your focus.

Examples of Affirmations:

Attitude of Gratitude: “I am grateful for all that I am, for that I have, and for all that I experience.”

For You: “I love you…YOUR NAME.”

For Health: “I am Healthy and Happy and I am living an abundant life.”

For Success: “I am successful, abundant and prosperous.”

For Relationships: “I am in a loving and happy relationship with…..”

For Financial Abundance “I am financially abundant.”

You can have daily affirmations for how you would like your day to be like or you can affirmation for success, health, abundance.  Basically you can have an affirmation for anything. Affirmations are just affirm your beliefs.  Beliefs occur once you have a thought and keep thinking that thought.  So why not start having thoughts that can have a positive impact on your life. You don’t have to take my word for it, prove it to yourself. Do it and see how powerful you are.

Do What You Love!

When you have taken steps to understand how you feel about yourself, you start loving and appreciating yourself (previous blog on Relationships: How do you feel about you?). You will have created space allowing yourself to start loving your life, to start doing things that you love.  This doesn’t just apply to your career but to all aspects of your life.

You may have no idea what you love to do or you may have a hobby that you could turn into something you can earn a living from. So, the question is what do you really love to do? No, idea?  Then maybe it is time to find out. If you read my blog on Having Fun, you are never too old to have fun.  This could be your starting point to discover what you love to do and actually turn it into something you can earn a living from.  This can be a time for trying new things, things that you may have never experienced.  “If you don’t do it, you will never know and you may live to regret it later on.”

This could be a time that is scary but if you allow yourself to face your fear (see blog on Fear), you can move forward to new horizons.

Create a list things that you would like to experience. Maybe you have been putting off things so you owe it to yourself to stop PROCRASTINATING and NOW is the time to experience them for real.

If you taken the time to let go of the past, you no longer live there and you no longer are anxious about the future.  You are now living in the present.  You can now DECIDE how you want to live your life NOW. You are taking responsibility – the ability to respond to how you want life to be.

If you look at my blogs from last year, there are strategies to help you overcome your fears and anxieties and move forward.  I used all of these strategies and I still use them to help me, maybe not as much but they are tools in my toolbox.  I am truly loving life. I appreciate everything and everyone and when I feel challenged I use my tools to let go, so I can be present to NOW.

LIFE IS NOW, even when you think of your past or future.  You are experiencing everything NOW.  So why not create life that you LOVE?

Goal Setting: New Year, New You!

How was last year for you?  Did you achieve all your goals? Did you set goals last year?

Why set goals?  It’s a way of allowing yourself to create whatever you would like for yourself and allowing yourself to have it. You can prove to yourself that you truly are the creator of your life.

How to Start?

You need to ask yourself the right questions.

Where do you want to be?

What do you want to create?

Who do you want to become?

You can start with something small.  I started with creating parking spaces where ever I traveled. Then, I thought “if I can create parking spaces, what else can I create?”

Impossible becomes I’m Possible

So, how can  you be smart when setting your goal?

Ask the right questions………

Where are you now?

Set an intention of what you would like.

“I allow myself to have THE GOAL with ease”

By doing this you will prove to yourself that you are the creator of your life, you begin to take responsibility for your life and all becomes possible.
